I just came back from down Balangan way, back to Canggu. Man, the traffic is crazy. I just got back so I need to be quick getting this amazing email out – it’s already late.
I wasn’t checking the Balangan Beach demolition site, but visiting a building site. We heard this week the authorities had decided to knock down more warungs, this time on Balangan Beach. I haven’t seen it with my own eyes, so keep that in mind. However, I recall years ago at Balangan Beach there were remnants, or ruins of a previous building knocked down on top of the beach there for years. Bricks and chunks of concrete lying about looking mighty messy for years. Actually, the rubble was there until the latest batch of warungs plonked themselves along the beach there many years later. We all wonder what’s going to happen this time around. Will all the beach cafes and warungs be demolished?
I have been thinking lately the greatest thing they could do with all that building equipment, excavators, etc would be to punch that beach road all the way through from Kuta to Canggu. Not a major road, something similar to what is in front of the hotels along the Padma Double Six stretch. That would so good for tourism and would help to alleviate the congestion in the area. Could you imagine how good it would be if you were able to ride your bike right along the west coast? I can’t believe those hotels have any legality in buildin,g or taking the land right at the top of the beach either. This could be the moment!
But anyway, I will just put that out there and see what happens.
This weekend, look out for the Ubud Village Jazz Festival – starts today. And also, the weekend long Seasons: Summer show at Miss Fish. There is plenty more on too.
Have a great weekend folks!
